Met Office reveals new names for upcoming storm season
The storm names for the 2022/23 season have been revealed by the Met Office.The convention started in 2015 and normally runs from the start of autumn to late August the following year.
The names are compiled by the UK’s Met Office, Ireland’s forecaster Met Eireann, and the Netherlands’ KNMI.A number of this year’s names came via the public, who can put forward suggestions, with Betty receiving 12,000 votes on Twitter to make the final list.Storms are named when they have the potential to cause an amber or red warning.
