The rapper Pa Salieu has been jailed for his part in a mass brawl that erupted after his friend was killed four years ago.

Salieu, 25, was caught on CCTV using a tree branch to hit a victim of a gang attack, who then spent 10 days in hospital.

He was found guilty of possessing a bottle as an offensive weapon.

Salieu, who was named the BBC’s Sound of 2021, told the court that he had smashed and brandished the bottle to defend himself.

He was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court to 33 months in prison.

The brawl erupted after his friend, Fidel Glasgow, was stabbed to death in Coventry in 2018.
