Police identify 36-year-old Dorchester man as victim in weekend shooting
Boston police have identified the person who was fatally shot early Saturday morning in Dorchester.
As part of their investigation, police have identified Daniel Sanders, 36, of Dorchester as the individual who was shot and killed over the weekend.Read more: Motorcyclist evading police kills pedestrian in Monson, police say
Around 1 a.m. on Oct. 22, police officers responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 39 Baird Street in Dorchester. Upon arrival the officers found Sanders suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police transported Sanders to a local area hospital. Sanders was later pronounced dead at the same hospital.
Violent crimes in Boston are declining overall. In 2021, homicides fell almost 33% compared to 2020, according to Massachusetts Crime Statistics.
