The Office actor Rainn Wilson to change his name to raise awareness of climate change
Actor Rainn Wilson has changed his name to raise awareness of climate change.
The star of the US version of The Office said he will now be known as Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson.
Speaking in a video posted on Twitter on Wednesday, he said: “What happens in the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic.
“As the polar caps melt, it drives up the risk throughout the world, including extreme weather events that affect all of us.
“So as a cheap little stunt to help save Planet Earth, I’ve changed my name on Twitter, Instagram, and even on my fancy writing paper…because I’m an Arctic risk name changer, which is going to be a game changer.
“Our mission at Arctic Basecamp is to raise awareness of the global risks of Arctic weather change – it’s not just bad news for the Arctic, but for us too.
“That’s why I changed my name, and you should too – to help tell the world leaders and influencers that we need to act now.
“So I’m reaching out to you and lots of folks in show business to change their names.”

He later tweeted that he had been unable to change his Twitter name, however, due to recent changes at the social networking platform.
Wilson, 56, is a member of Arctic Basecamp, a group of Arctic experts who have brought their knowledge to gatherings around the world.
The group’s Arctic Risk Platform includes an Arctic Risk Name Generator, which Wilson encouraged people to use so they can change their own names.
It is not clear whether Wilson has taken the step of changing his name legally.
