A teenager has died after collapsing at a secondary school in Edinburgh.

Emergency crews were called to Forrester High School in the west of the city on Tuesday afternoon after the 15-year-old boy reportedly suffered a ‘medical incident’.

Police Scotland confirmed the schoolboy passed away, but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A force spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, police were made aware a 15-year-old boy had died after collapsing in Broomhouse Road, Edinburgh.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Members of the public were later invited to a local church for a period of reflection and to light a candle in tribute to the boy.

An online post by St David’s Broomhouse Parish Church read: “Following the difficult circumstances earlier today, the church will be open tonight, 8pm-9pm, for quiet reflection and the opportunity to light a candle. All are welcome.”
