Pele has thanked concerned fans for their messages as he spends time in hospital.

The Brazilian football legend said he was making his “monthly visit” and shared a photo of a building in Qatar lit up with his image and the words “Get Well Soon”.

“It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this,” he posted on Instagram.

“Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes.”

He signed off with a praying hands emoji and the post got more than 240,000 likes in the first two hours.

Pele’s daughter tried to reassure fans this week when she said his admission wasn’t an emergency and there was no “new dire prediction”.

She said he had been admitted so that doctors could regulate his medication after some media in Brazil said his condition appeared more serious.

ESPN cited a source as saying he had cardiac issues and that doctors were concerned his chemotherapy “was not having the expected results”.

The 82-year-old had a tumour removed from his colon in September 2021 and has since been in and out of hospital for treatment on a regular basis.

Pele is regarded by many as the best footballer ever and is an icon of the sport.

He’s Brazil’s leading international scorer with 77 goals in 92 games and was part of the legendary 1970 World Cup-winning squad.
