3 Conn. officers shot near ESPN building; 2 dead, 1 seriously injured

Two police officers were killed in a shooting in Bristol, Conn., Wednesday evening while a third suffered major injuries.

Described by the Connecticut State Police as an officer-involved shooting, the incident occurred close to the headquarters of ESPN, near Birch Street and Redstone Hill Road. Information about the shooting is still being collected and a press conference will be scheduled, state police said in a tweet.

By 6:58 a.m. on Thursday, a procession was underway for the two officers being escorted from Bristol Hospital to the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, a follow-up tweet read.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.
